Functional Text

1.    Invitation

Definition :  Is a document written or printed or spoken words, conveying the message by which one is invited.

Purpose : To invite someone or to ask someone to come.

Generic :         - Sender                   - Recipient
- Venue/Place                 - Time
- Dress Code           - Contact Person

Example :

2.   Short Message Service (SMS)

Definition :  Is a text messaging service component of phone, web or mobile communication systems.

Purpose : To find information anywhere and anytime.

Generic :         -   Sender         -  The sender's number

-        Time           -  Message content

Example :

3.   Memo

Definition : Is a concise message, the message is written someone with a short, clear, and easy to understand.

Purpose :

Generic : -  Head memo                 -  Date sender

-      Recipients           -  Senders

-      Initials and the name of the sender

-        Contents of the message or command

Example :

4.   Shopping List

Definition : Is a list of items needed to be purchased by a shopper.

Purpose : Compile a shopping list to buy items or requirement on subsequent visits.

Generic : Items and number of items.

Example :

5.   Announcement

Definition : Is a short passage that contains information or announce something.

Purpose : Convey to the audience or group regarding the specific information.

Generic : -  Date             -  Place

Example :

6.   Advertisement

Definition : Is a picture, short film, and others are trying to get people to buy a product or service.

Purpose : Convey a particular product for commercial purposes or for profit.

Generic : -  Items or services         -  Price

Example :

7.   Notice / warning

Definition : A functional text in the form of instructions for someone to do something or not do something.

Purpose : Warn someone about something.

Generic : -  Information         -  Instruction

Contoh Prosedur text How To Make Burger

               How to Make Burger

Introduction:Good morning my friends.I want to tell you about how to make burger

Definise:procedure text is text that explans how something wohes of text that explains how to use the guide lines or us.

Purpose:let’s make burger

Specipic text : Step 1 ,Step 2, Step 3, Step 4,Step 5,Step 6

                                      

Generic stucture:

Goals : Lets make burger

Materials:
1. two breads
2. ketchup
3. chili sauce
4. lettuce
5. onion
6. mayonnaise
7. cheese
8. butter
9. beef burger or meat


Tools:
1. frying pan
2. spatula
3. stove
4. plate


Steps:
- first, put butter on bread, and bake bread in the frying pan.
- after that, put the ketchup, chili cauce, and mayonnaise on bread.
- then, put cheese, sliced onions, letuce, cucumber slices on bread.
- after that, put the meat that have been fried over the brad.
- then, put the bread again
- finally, place the burger in the plate and it is ready to be served
